各位港大同學：
週年大選2013
今天是2013年第一個上課日，相信一眾參選學生會的同學亦會開展新一階段的競選工作。今年有破記錄的46位同學參選，不但是自70年代以來首次出現大規模「撼莊」，更是學生會史上第一次有新生牽頭組成「齊莊」內閣，有望填補所有職位的空缺──對於學生會及大部分的屬會，是十分罕見的。這是學生會百年來發展的一個重要里程碑。
隨著選舉的日期愈來愈近，選舉的爭議也愈演愈烈。個別評議員與參選者之間的利益輸送，任由參選者自行定立遊戲規則而視若無睹，甚不惜至公然違反學生會憲章，企圖控制選舉；部分校園傳媒幹事尚未辭去職務，便已交表參選，難逃公器私用之嫌，發放誤導同學的失實訊息，以求合理化一切違憲的行為，企圖掩飾其背後與參選者之間的利益輸送。
我呼籲同學要多方面了解，投入選舉，認清事實真相，以免被謠言所誤；同時，要多留意各參選人的政綱，了解他們對大學的認識及來年的實則工作計劃，選出最能為您服務的同學。

Dear Union Members,
Annual Election 2013
As the first teaching day of the new semester, candidates for the HKUSU Annual Election 2013 should have entered another stage of promotion. This year, our number of nominees has reached up to 46, which is the first large-scaled competition since the 70s. In addition, it is also the first time in the history of the Union with freshmen leading a proposed cabinet. This is a milestone of the development of the Union for the next centenary, and beyond.
With two weeks till the Election, however, debates encircling the elections get heated – with serious conflict of interest between some councilors, candidates and campus media. Some councilors and candidates even took part in restructuring the arrangements for the Election after declared candidacy and violated the Constitution in hopes of controlling the Election. Some of our campus media executive committee members were candidates to the Election and could have made use of the media to attack their opponents to increase chances of winning, and to mislead the student populations to justify their unconstitutional and illegal actions.
I wish you could reach out for more channels of information if you would like to know more about the current happenings of the Election. I also urge you to learn more about the platform of our candidates and their understanding and concrete plans concerning the development of the University, and choose the most suitable students to serve you in the coming year.
