Resolutions carried at invalid Council Meeting null and void
Last night (20 February 2013), a group of Union Council Members illegally and unconstitutionally convened a “Union Council Meeting”.
The Meeting shall be invalid because the requests for the Council Meetings had lapsed after the beginning of the new Union Session 2013. Worse still, the said group of Members have not followed the procedure clearly specified in the Union Constitution to request the President of the previous Union Session to convene the Meeting in lieu of the Council Chairperson, by submitting a SIGNED request, but jumping steps by electing a Union Council Members amongst themselves. As a result, as convened illegally and unconstitutionally, all resolutions carried at this so-called fake “Council Meeting” shall be null and void.
The undersigned has also noticed that an invalid so-called “Twelfth Emergency Council Meeting” has been called to “appoint” office-bearers of the Union without going through election and claim themselves as “HKUSU” to issue statement in the name of “HKUSU”. Again, it shall be invalid and void. The undersigned has already reminded Members repeatedly and explicitly concerning the relevant constitutional procedure, and hopes that Members will respect the rule of law and follow the procedure stated clearly in the Union Constitution to avoid further controversy.
